    Circular 8 of 2018

    Dear Parents

    Circular 8 of 2018

    1. SOAP BOX DERBY REWARD:

Many thanks to all our parents for the wonderful support of our annual Soap Box Derby.  In spite of the windy conditions the day was a huge success. The income from the sponsored forms was R 82 500 for which we are very thankful. The cost of the go-carts was split over two years, and we had to make a second payment of R 19 000 which gives us a profit of R 63 000.  As we now have our own go-carts the income received in future will be pure profit.

As a reward to our learners for all their efforts we promised them an early closure of school if we reach R80 000. The school will close at 11:30 on Friday 31 August.  The weather on the day of our soap box derby did not allow us to end off with the colour fest.  This will now take place at 12:00 on Friday.  Learners who purchased the coloured powder must please bring it along on Friday, with their oldest clothes.  Friday will be a civvie day.

    1. BIBLE QUIZ:

We are extremely proud of our Bible Quiz teams who have been appointed as winners of the KZN section of the competition.  We had six teams participating and all six were placed in the six top positions in the province. Three of the teams were placed in the top 40 in the country.

    1. BOX TYPE SCHOOL BAGS:

I would like to remind you that the use of the box type school bag is prohibited. Cases purchased by learners prior to this decision have been marked with a sticker.  I would especially like to remind the parents with children in grade 3 not to buy this type of case.  The official school bag for senior learners is available in the HippoTique. You are welcome to come and observe how the children battle to get these bags up and down the steps.

    1. DROPPING OF ITEMS AT THE FRONT OFFICE:

The fact that more and more learners are forgetting their lunch, tasks, track suits and many other items at home is causing a problem in the front office.  The ladies are inundated with parents who bring these items to school and then have to find the learner and call them out of a class or from the playground.  This will only be allowed in extreme cases.  Please teach your child to be responsible and to ensure that these items are not forgotten.

    1. DISCIPLINE POLICY:

I have included an excerpt from the learner’s code of conduct document for your attention.  Parents are often unsure of the type of punishment that is linked to a certain transgression.  This will give you a better indication. You will still receive a sms each time a child transgresses. Please ensure that the school has your latest cell phone number.  The complete Code of Conduct will be available on the website for you to peruse. Please ensure that your child is aware of all the school rules.

    1. CROSS COUNTRY:

Our athletes have excelled over the past weeks in the various cross country meetings. Congratulations to Tristan Parkinson and Megan Redelinghuis who have been selected as members of the Amajuba District Team to take part in the KZN Championships this coming weekend at Grey Goose Farm Lodge.

    1. CRICKET:

Congratulations to Cameron Manfron who was selected to the Northern KZN Cricket Team.

    1. 7’s RUGBY:

This form of rugby is getting very popular, and even here at the Hutties.  Our 7’s team participated at two tournaments.  At the one in Vryheid they won four of their five games and at the Michaelhouse Tournament they won five out of five with 212 points for us and only 17 against us. Well done to these boys!

    1. CONCERT:

The learners are practising daily for our concert.  There will be some practises during the evenings as well.  Please make sure they they attend all practices.

Good luck for the rest of the term

    Regards

    Omsendbrief 8 van 2018

    Beste Ouers

    Omsendbrief 8 van 2018

    1. KASKARDAG BEDERF:

Ouers is dikwels onseker oor wanneer watter straf by watter oortreding van toepassing is.  U sal elke keer ’n sms ontvang as u kind ‘n oortreding begaan het.

    Groete
